Hopper Technical Information on Thomas 3004
In the Thomas 3004 change machine, Money Controls (now Crane Payment Solutions) Universal hoppers are used in mode 1.
In the machine, 12V DC logic power is applied to the hopper electronics when it powers up. LED No 1 lights up to indicate power is on.
An “All OK” security signal is given by the hopper and the LED No 2 lights up.
When the hopper is required to payout, the 24V DC motor supply is applied, but nothing happens until a logic control signal is also applied.
As each coin is paid, the coin passes through the hopper opto gate where it is “seen” by opto sensors. LED’s No 3 and No 4 will flash as the coins pass. A signal mimicking LED No 3 is sent to the machine control system to indicate the correct payout of each coin.
Some Versions of hoppers have only 3 LED’s fitted. The functions of LED’s 1,2 and 3 as described above apply equally to this type of hopper.
Once the correct amount of coins have been paid, the hopper is instructed to stop, by removal of the logic control signal. The 24V DC is removed a short while later.
